Are and Are Not

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. – Romans 8:37

It’s been said that knowing who “you are not” is equally as important as knowing who “you are!” Early messages in life might have told you it’s not ok to be found lacking, especially in areas others find important, like sports or beauty. Most people have spent significant time covering up shortcomings and compensating for weaknesses.

When Christ faced evil and overcame the power it holds over the human soul, every believer became free from the chains of darkness.  As a follower of Christ, you may walk from bondage into deliverance, but it is important to remember that freedom comes through His strength and not because of anything you have done, other than trusting Him.

Can the challenges in your life be overcome? Yes! But before you can offer anyone who has harmed you great forgiveness, you must acknowledge the magnitude of forgiveness you have received. Before you find faithfulness in a relationship, it’s good to recognize the Father’s longsuffering patience with your unfaithfulness. Before you overcome strong temptation, understand Christ’s deep devotion to his mission on Earth. Before you defeat addiction and compulsion, you must lay your efforts before God and ask for His help.

Victory is sure, as sure as you are standing with Christ. Today pray that America will be delivered from those working to move it away from dependence upon God’s grace. Ask that those in leadership positions recognize their great need for God’s strength rather than relying on their own political influence, acknowledging who they “are” and who they “are not” before Him.

Today’s Verse: Romans 8:37

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.

14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? 17 For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
