Election Security Briefings to Congress Scaled Back

There’s a “pandemic” of information leaks, DNI Says

The Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, said his decision to scale back in-person election security briefings to Congress in favor of written reports came about because of information being leaked “within minutes” of his briefings.

He said he had been going above and beyond in briefing, not just the oversight committees “but every member of Congress,” and that he will no longer do so.

“Within minutes of one of those briefings ending, a number of members of Congress went to a number of different outlets and leaked classified information for political purposes,” Ratcliffe said. “To create a narrative that simply isn’t true, that somehow Russia is a greater national security threat than China.”

“I don’t mean to minimize Russia. They are a serious national security threat, but day in, day out, the threats that we face from China are significantly greater,” Ratcliffe said. “Anyone who says otherwise is just politicizing intelligence for their own narrative.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That Congress would “plug up the leaks” of classified material and not reveal it to media and other sources for their own political gain.
  • For John Ratcliffe to use wisdom in the classified briefings to a more select group of congressional members.
  • For U.S. intelligence operatives and officials working to heighten security to prevent foreign influence of the American election.
