President Donald Trump will receive a briefing on Hurricane Laura today. In the evening, the president will travel to Londonderry, New Hampshire to attend a rally at Pro Star Aviation.

The hurricane came on the heels of Tropical Storm Marco, which downgraded from hurricane force prior to making landfall on Monday evening, bringing localized flooding and heavy rain as it hit the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Laura began as a tropical storm which passed over Jamaica, parts of Cuba, and the Cayman Islands on Monday. By Wednesday morning Hurricane Laura had reached Category 3 force. When Hurricane Laura reached Cameron, Louisiana in the wee hours on Thursday morning, the storm had become a powerful Category 4, which forecasters said would be “unsurvivable.” Roughly a million residents of Texas and Louisiana are without power and six people are known to have died.

The hurricane has downgraded to a tropical depression as it continues further inland on a northeasterly course, bringing heavy winds and flooding through parts of Arkansas. The governor there has declared a state of emergency.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For all who are without power or water in the aftermath of the hurricane, and for those who have lost loved ones.
  • For FEMA and local first responders as they seek to help people recover from the devastation.
  • For discernment for the president as he leads the nation through difficult circurmstances.
