President Bans Tiktok

Requires apps to be sold to American companies or will be blocked in U.S.

On Thursday, President Trump signed an executive order that would ban the social media app TikTok and WeChat from operating in the United States in 45 days. The stipulation for continued access for Americans would require the parent companies to sell to an American company. The text of the order bans “any transaction by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with ByteDance Ltd.”

Microsoft has been in talks with ByteDance to purchase the popular video platform. This executive order effectively puts a deadline of September 15 for such a sale to take place. President Trump also claimed that the transaction would send a “substantial amount of money” to the Treasury Department. However, such language does not exist in the order.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to lead the President to protect American privacy.
  • For the Treasury Department to work to generate the needed income for the nation’s purposes.
  • That God would lead the courts on how to rule on the legal challenge to this executive order.
