Tuesday, August 4

This morning, President Donald Trump will sign H.R. 1957, The Great American Outdoors Act. Introduced in the Senate this past March, the bill establishes the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund to support deferred maintenance projects on federal lands. The legislation was passed by the Senate in June and by the House of Representatives last month.

Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt said this legislation that President Trump consistently supported will “fix the aging infrastructure at our national parks and permanently fund conservation projects through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.”

The president will then have a working lunch with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The secretary spoke before Congress late last week about President Trump’s budget for the State Department. In his remarks, Secretary Pompeo outlined the administration’s objectives of securing the American people’s freedoms against authoritarian threats; securing American lives during the pandemic; and helping friends across the world secure the same unalienable rights upon which the U.S. was founded.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he signs the legislation to preserve national lands.
  • For Secretary Bernhardt as he leads the Interior Department in stewarding these lands.
  • For wisdom for the president and secretary of state as they discuss diplomatic strategy and the foreign challenges facing the United States.
