Senior Strength

Joshua 14:10,11 – I am this day eighty-five years old; I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming.

Some among us can identify with the 85-year-old Caleb who was speaking in today’s verse. He had seen some difficult times across his life, and yet, he had endured. In verse 10, he credits the Lord with keeping him alive and strong.

The Lord may have bestowed extra blessings upon Caleb and Joshua, who were the faithful among the spies sent to scope out the land before the children of Israel had to wander 40 years in the desert. That same God who blessed him has the power to continue to bless you and give you strength for the day.

Senior, don’t assume that it is time to sit back and do nothing. If you have life and strength, God still has a mission for you, just as he did for Caleb. Trust Him and honor Him with all that remains of your life.

Pray With Us

Glorious Father God, it is encouraging for me as one of those whose hair has turned grey or fallen out completely, to know that, even at 85, you had work for Caleb to do. More than that, Lord, he was willing to go and do it. Thank You for blessing me with long life. Strengthen me to continue to do Your will, and let me do it in a way that glorifies You, because You are so good to me.  Thank you for a lifetime of love. In Jesus Name,

Amen.
