Control of the Heart

God’s hand is on the president.

Proverbs 21:1 – The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.

As another election approaches, it is important to remember that, no matter who the next president is, God’s hand will be upon him or her. And just as God controls the path of a waterfall coming down the mountainside or the majestic rivers of the world, the hearts of all humankind are in God’s hand. He can and will change minds and direct affairs for His purposes, even within the realm of their free will.

You doubt it? Consider how God powerfully displayed it when dealing with Pharaoh where God “hardened his heart” (exodus 10:1-2). Or how He worked His will through King Cyrus (Isaiah 45:1-5). Neither of these rulers were followers of the Lord. Nor were others He worked through. So it will be with the person who gets elected president in November—there is a divine purpose in the land and the Lord will accomplish it, using that next leader or not.

Of course, it is far better if the person elected in November knows and loves the Lord.

Pray With Us

Divine Majesty and Heavenly Father, Your glory and Your purpose transcends everything. Thank You for moving in the Earth to work Your plan. I pray that you would grant favor even now to the person who will be the people’s choice in November. I pray that he would be a willing participant with You in moving America on the path You have set for the nation. However, O Lord God, whether he is good or bad, my choice or not, liberal or conservative, work with him and through him for Your glory and the glory of Your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose Name I pray.

Amen.
