First Lady Plans Rose Garden Renovation

White House history and beauty will be preserved.

A plan to renovate the White House Rose Garden was announced by First Lady Melania Trump. It is a role traditionally performed by the president’s spouse.

Her design for the garden aims to symbolize “hope in the possibility of a bright future” even while coronavirus cases spike across some areas of the country, she said in a statement released by the White House on Monday. Among the upgrades will be a new walkway, flowers, and shrubs.

“Preserving the history and beauty of the White House and its grounds is a testament to our nation’s commitment to the care of this landscape and our dedication to American ideas, safeguarding them for our children and their children for generations to come,” the First Lady said.
