President Donald Trump has no public events on his schedule today. He will remain in Washington D.C. at the White House.

On Wednesday, the president extended an executive order from 2011 that had declared a national emergency regarding the “unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States constituted by the activities of significant transnational criminal organizations.”

President Trump’s notice, officially published in the Federal Register and transmitted to the Congress, stated that the scope and gravity of significant transnational criminal organizations “threaten the stability of international political and economic systems.” These organizations are entrenched in foreign governments and the international financial system, which undermines democracy, rule of law, and economic markets. Their activities “pose a direct threat to the safety and welfare of the United States and its citizens.”

International criminal activities include, but are not limited to, human trafficking, smuggling of narcotics, weapons, or other prohibited items, terrorism, and cybercrime.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for President Trump and his advisors as they endeavor to prevent damage to the nation by transnational criminal organizations.
  • For Congress to support policies that protect the U.S. from international criminal activity.
  • For U.S. law enforcement, border security, and intelligence agencies as they seek to keep America safe from illegal activities, both foreign and domestic.
