Senator Schumer Unveils Economic Justice Act

Legislation would look to address systemic racism

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was joined with other senators last week to release a $350 billion plan to tackle systemic racism and historic underinvestment in communities of color that have been hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic and economic downturn.

The Economic Justice Act calls for ten major investments over the next five years to help with childcare, health care, jobs programs, infrastructure improvements, and housing assistance for communities of color.

Senator Schumer said, “Long before the pandemic, long before the recession, long before this year’s protests, structural inequities have persisted in health care and housing, the economy and education. COVID-19 has only magnified these injustices and we must confront them with lasting, meaningful solutions that tear down economic and social barriers, and invest in historically underserved communities. The Economic Justice Act is a needed step in a long journey to address systemic racism and historic underinvestment in communities of color.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate as they review and take up the Economic Justice Act.
  • For God’s will to be accomplished through the nation’s leaders and they look to bring equity to underserved communities across America.
