His Mind is Made Up

The faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. – Psalm 117:2

The young couple conceived the little boy when they were both students studying abroad. They were no longer together when the infant was born, and the tiny one was placed for adoption. After one couple changed their minds about adopting the boy, another agreed. The new parents weren’t well educated, and his adopting mother later admitted she was too frightened to love him for the first six months of his life, fearful, too, that he might be taken from them. By age two, the boy had become a difficult child, and the two felt they might have made a mistake and wanted to return him.  As a adult, he would later say he was deeply loved and indulged by this couple, and was upset when they were referred to as his “adoptive parents,” for Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple, regarded them as his parents “1,000 percent.”

If you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Bible says you have been adopted by the Father (John 1:12).  John 15:16 says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” As a result of that adoption, as a full child of God, you are now entitled to the inheritance of a son of the Father (Colossians 1:12 and Ephesians 1:4-5).

Unlike Paul and Clara Jobs, even if you are a “difficult child,” God will never change His mind about you. He will keep you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He will sustain you until He brings you home to glory. His mind is made up about you!

Pray for judges who rule in America’s adoption courts to understand the security and blessings offered by being adopted of God the Father through faith in Jesus Christ.

Today’s Verse: Psalm 117:2

For great is his steadfast love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord!

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
