Wisdom’s Source

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me. – Proverbs 8:17

Today’s verse is from the passage where wisdom is personified. It could be interpreted as when you apply God’s wisdom to your life, it will be for your own benefit. In the New Testament there is a well-known scripture about wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind” (James 1:5-6).

This verse reveals some interesting truths about God’s character. He is the source of wisdom. Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” He is generous. Paul describes God in 1 Timothy 6:17 as the one who “richly provides us with everything to enjoy.” When you come to Him for help, He does not condemn you. Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” The Lord responds to faith. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.”

Come boldly to God in faith for wisdom and be confident that He will give it to you. Ask Him for help for your personal needs and those of your country. Pray for a great revival in this land in these last days. Pray for wisdom for the leaders of the country, that they will make decisions that will honor the Lord. Pray that they will love wisdom and diligently seek it from God, its only True Source.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, 14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
