Senate Confirms New Director of National Intelligence

Former Congressman from Texas’ 4th District appointed to role.

On Thursday, the Senate confirmed former House of Representatives member John Ratcliffe to be the next Director of National Intelligence.

His confirmation comes as the intelligence community faces questions about whether associates of President Trump were improperly “unmasked” in intelligence reports during the last days of the former administration.

“The DNI’s role is crucial to our national security, and I look forward to working with Director Ratcliffe as he oversees the efforts of our nation’s 17 intelligence agencies,” acting Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Marco Rubio of Florida said in a statement Thursday. “In a time when the threats to our nation are many and varied, it is critical to have a Senate-confirmed DNI ensuring the wide array of intelligence agencies are sharing information across lines, coordinating capabilities, and working in the furtherance of our nation’s security using 21st century, cutting edge capabilities.”

Senator Rubio added, “Director Ratcliffe understands his responsibility, and I am confident that he will fulfill of the roles assigned to the DNI with integrity.”

He has promised to be an independent leader of the nation’s 17 intelligence agencies. He also said he would deliver “unvarnished” truthful information to the president, regardless of whether it might anger him.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For DNI Director John Ratcliffe as he takes on this responsibility at a time when intelligence agencies are in need of stable leadership.
  • For those investigating previous leaders of intelligence agencies to have wisdom and find the truth.
