President Orders Destruction of Iranian Fastboats

Iranian military vessels have been harassing U.S. Navy.

On Wednesday, President Trump directed the U.S. Navy to destroy Iranian military vessels that conduct provocative maneuvers near U.S. ships in the Persian Gulf.

U.S. Naval Forces Central Command said that 11 small vessels belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy conducted “dangerous and harassing approaches” toward U.S. ships. The American ships were conducting operations with Army Apache helicopters in international waters in the northern Persian Gulf.

The Iranian fastboats “repeatedly crossed the bows and sterns of the U.S. vessels at extremely close range and high speeds,” a Navy spokesman said in a statement.  The fastboats came as close as 10 yards against the American warships. The six U.S. ships issued multiple warnings, but received no response, the military said.

The president’s actions came shortly after Iran announced it had successfully launched a military satellite into orbit for the first time.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump, Defense Secretary Esper, and U.S. military officials at this point in escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran.
  • For diplomats to seek an easing of military pressures between the two nations.
