This Could be Peak Week for Virus

Particular concerns were raised for four areas.

Admiral Brett Giroir, a physician and member of the White House coronavirus task force, warned on Monday that America could face a “peak death week” from the coronavirus pandemic. The accelerating toll in America is fast closing the gap with Italy and Spain, the countries with the most reported fatalities to date.

“It’s going to be the peak hospitalization, peak ICU week and, unfortunately, peak death week,” he said.

He raised particular alarm for New York, New Jersey Connecticut and Detroit.

On Sunday, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said, “This is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment.” He urged governors who had not yet issued month-long stay-at-home orders to at least consider one for the upcoming week.

Despite their grim warnings, the most recent report from the Department of Health and Human Services said that at least one model offered hope that the death rate was actually slowing. The University of Washington model, projects the peak need for hospital beds to be April 15.

President Trump has expressed optimism, tweeting “USA Strong” and “Light at the end of the Tunnel,” on Monday.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For doctors, nurses, first responders, hospital administrators, and all who are dealing with patients who have coronavirus.
  • For members of the coronavirus task force as they continually review data and make the best judgments their knowledge and experience will offer to help keep Americans safe and healthy.
  • For President Trump as he tries to engender hope in his daily news briefings and through his Twitter messages.
