President Calls for $2T Infrastructure Bill

“Phase 4” main focus would be jobs.

On Tuesday, President Trump said the U.S. Congress should pass a $2 trillion spending plan to update the country’s roads, bridges and other infrastructure, calling for it to be included in the next bill lawmakers are currently drafting to respond to the coronavirus crisis, which they refer to as “Phase 4.”

In a Twitter message, the president wrote, “With interest rates for the United States being at ZERO, this is the time to do our decades long awaited infrastructure bill. It should be VERY BIG & BOLD, Two Trillion Dollars, and be focused solely on jobs and rebuilding the once great infrastructure of our Country, Phase 4.“

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the fourth phase of the coronavirus stimulus would be largely focused on helping the front-line medical workers, homebound parents, and patients afflicted with the deadly virus.  An additional component could include funding for water, broadband, schools and other infrastructure systems that have proven insufficient. Such funding, she argued, would not only promote public health by updating systems like public drinking water and telemedicine, it would also create jobs and provide a shot in the arm for an economy devastated by the virus.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress and the president to work together in a rapid, bipartisan manner to give more stimulus to the national economy.
  • That representatives and senators would focus on overcoming the virus and returning the economy to a sure footing, setting aside divisive ideological goals or pet projects.
