White House and Congress Agree on Virus Stimulus Package

$2 trillion in aid apportioned to citizens, companies, and local governments

Early on Wednesday morning, members of Congress and the White House agreed on the contents of a historic bi-partisan relief bill aimed at stabilizing the U.S. economy amid the growing COVID-19 pandemic. “A fight has arrived on our shores,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. “We did not seek it, we did not want it, but now we’re going to win it.”

The bill, that will be voted on later on Wednesday contains over 500 pages and is expected to be passed by a voice vote by both chambers. The bill would offer $1,200 to every American adult making under 75,000 a year, as well as $500 for their children. The bill also contains expanded unemployment benefits and aid for struggling businesses including the airline industry.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Congress to vote for the best possible recovery bill possible.
  • For the White House and Congress to continue to coordinate following the end of the pandemic.
  • For this recovery bill to stabilize the U.S. economy.
