Connecticut and New Jersey Order Stay-at-Home

Residents in five states now hunkered down.

The people in five states are facing measures meant to keep them at home as officials across the nation work to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced a statewide “stay at home” order on Saturday, closing nonessential retail businesses and asking residents to remain at home until further notice. The order prohibits gatherings and asks individuals to participate in social distancing.

Only hours before, Governor Ned Lamont of Connecticut announced his executive order asking businesses and residents to stay at home.  As with the others, he directed all nonessential businesses and not-for-profit entities in Connecticut to prohibit in-person functions. He excluded only essential businesses or entities providing services for healthcare, food service, law enforcement, and similar critical services.

The other states are New York, California, and Illinois.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For residents in states and localities with stay-at-home orders to be vigilant in following the government guidelines.
  • For first responders, healthcare workers, grocery store employees, pharmacists, truck drivers, and some in government positions that are essential to ongoing functions, as they work tirelessly and often without thanks.
  • For a sense of calm among Americans who can know that this is but for a little while and then things will change.
