One Nation, Under God. Together we Pray.

“As we continue to face the unique challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, millions of Americans are unable to gather in their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of worship. The ability to bring praying Americans together virtually on the National Day of Prayer has never been more important. We must continue to pray for the nation, for healthcare workers, for first responders and — as strongly as ever — for President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force during this time of great need. Thank you for joining us and faithfully praying.”

  • Day 1

    National Day of Prayer

“For the whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters over the sea.” – Habakkuk 2:14

Today, we pray that your glory, O God, will move across the whole Earth. We pray that light shall shine out of darkness, and the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, who is the Light, shall be seen. I am Your servant, O God, ready to proclaim the knowledge of Your glory and majesty each place that I go. Use me according to Your perfect will.

  • Day 2

    Day 2

“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek You; I thirst for You; my whole being longs for You, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” – Psalm 63:1

My cry, today, O God, is for America to return to its knees, to long for You with an earnest heart, to know the quenching of thirst that only You can bring. Prepare my heart and the hearts of thousands for tomorrow’s National Day of Prayer. Holy Spirit, rain down upon us in love.

  • Day 3

    Day 3

“For this reason, I kneel before the Father. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.” – Ephesians 6:14,16

Holy Father, the National Day of Prayer is only hours away. I pray, Lord, that you would strengthen all who participate, that they would experience nearness to You,  that Your Spirit would affirm Your love for them, and that hearts that do not know You would be drawn to You because of the sweetness of all assembled to pray.

  • Day 4

    Day 4

“My heart says of You, ‘Seek His face! Your face, Lord, I will seek.'” –  Psalm 27:8

Lord, today I sing, “Oh, I want to know You more. Deep within my heart, I want to know You.  To feel Your heart and know Your mind, looking in Your eyes stirs up within me, cries that say I want to know You. Oh, I want to know you more.” Give me that glimpse of You today, O Lord, I pray.

  • Day 5

    Day 5

“Let Your hand be with me and keep me from harm.” – 1 Chronicles 4:10

I love your presence, O Lord. Knowing that Your Hand is upon me to protect me and to guide me each day is a blessing beyond measure, and one I don’t deserve. Bind me close to You and keep me from harm today, O God. I will extol Your blessings to those around me.

  • Day 6

    Day 6

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10

Heavenly Father, purge my sins, make me white as snow. I give you my whole heart, holding nothing back. Keep it clean and pure to share Your glory and love with others. Keep my spirit in tune with Your own Most Holy Spirit, and let me ever praise You.

  • Day 7

    Day 7

“I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course. So correct me, Lord, but please be gentle.” – Jeremiah 10:23-24

Dear Jesus, You have bought me with a price and I am not my own any longer, but I belong to You. My own plans could readily lead me in a wrong direction. So turn me to the right way, so that I might follow You all the days of my life.

  • Day 8

    Day 8

“Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success.” – Psalm 118:25

O God, only You know the way to a truly secure and successful America—which, O Lord, we pray is according to Your most holy will. Nevertheless, remind me today, O God, that it is for Your Kingdom and the majestic return of Jesus that I await, and not for election results or political agreement.

  • Day 9

    Day 9

“I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Corinthians 1:4

Most Holy God of Grace, I do thank you today for fellow believers in Your Son, Jesus; that  You have not left one of us alone, but that You have given us the opportunity of sweet fellowship with one another. Help me not to take that blessing for granted.

  • Day 10

    Day 10

“Therefore, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.” – 1 Timothy 2:8

Dear Father, there are days when I spend too much time with the news media or engaged with friends or coworkers over events that make me angry. I know that anger gets in the way of my prayers. Forgive me, and remind me that, even in the worst of circumstances, You are still in control.

  • Day 11

    Day 11

“Know that the Lord has set apart His faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to Him.” – Psalm 4:3

Heavenly Father, You are so faithful to me. You do not ever fail me. Your plan for me is perfect in every way, and it is a plan I desire to walk in. Help me to be the faithful servant you have called me to be. Grant me Your power to love others even when they seem unlovely, through Your Holy Spirit.

  • Day 12

    Day 12

“We do not make requests of You because You are righteous, but because of Your great mercy.” – Daniel 9:18

God of mercy, what a precious gift to us your mercy is. That You have not given to us what our works deserve, but that You have set us apart for works You have established for us to do. Let us use that sanctification to your eternal glory, we pray.

  • Day 13

    Day 13

“O Lord, in the morning You hear my voice.” – Psalm 5:3

Loving Father, my soul is anxious today, but You have said in Your Word that You will carry those anxieties upon Yourself so that I need not be fearful or troubled. Thank You for Your loving care for me, so that even the smallest troubles might be removed by Your grace to me.

  • Day 14

    Day 14

“Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

Loving Father, my soul is anxious today, but You have said in Your Word that You will carry those anxieties upon Yourself so that I need not be fearful or troubled. Thank You for Your loving care for me, so that even the smallest troubles might be removed by Your grace to me.

  • Day 15

    Day 15

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love You!” – Psalm 122:6

Jerusalem, O God, is where You have placed Your own Name. How can we not pray for this beloved city and for Your people there Mow down anti-Semitism which has reared its ugly Satan-inspired head in our nation, and protect the people of Your Name, the sheep of Your flock, Israel.

  • Day 16

    Day 16

“Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.” – Matthew 6:9

Your Name, O God, is higher than any other name, and Your Words above all other words. All praise belongs to You alone, for You are holy and You render justice to the children of men. My desire is to live closer to You each day, knowing You better each step along the way.

  • Day 17

    Day 17

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” – James 1:5

God of Glory and Might, wisdom is what I lack and also what I seek. It seems far from me as I grapple with the matters of the day that hurt my soul. I am blessed to know that You desire to impart a portion of Your own wisdom in me. Help me to use it for Your glory and to always give You thanks.

  • Day 18

    Day 18

“Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!” – Psalm 141:2

Dear Father, I parse You for all of Your wondrous works, for the incredible creation You have made with Your own hands, for the truths and virtues You have planted in many who have mentored me, and above everything else, for the sacrificial gift of Your Son, Jesus, to bring me into right relationship with You!

  • Day 19

    Day 19

“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in faith.” – Psalm 145:18

There is no time, O God, when You are not near. That feels even more true to me when I bow before you in prayer.  Often I am like the father of the sick child who said, ‘Lord I believe; help my unbelief.” My faith is often too small. Keep me in Your Word that my faith might grow.

  • Day 20

    Day 20

“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer.” – Acts 1:14

Gracious Lord, encourage me to find praying partners that we might agree on spending time together seeking Your answers to the cares of our days. Help all of us to be diligent in fellowshipping with others who follow You and Your Son, Jesus.

  • Day 21

    Day 21

“You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.” – James 4:3

Father, I want most of all to praise You for Your goodness. I confess that there are times when I might seek something outside of Your will for me, and ask You to forgive me. Thank you for keeping me close to Your heart. I do pray today for the leaders of this nation to be troubled in their hearts until they are drawn to You and find salvation.

  • Day 22

    Day 22

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrew 4:16

Holy, Holy, Holy are you, O God. I am awestruck to know that I have access to You on Your majestic throne. I need the promises of Your grace today…Your power, Your love, Your forgiveness and Your very presence. For these I pray most humbly as Your servant.

  • Day 23

    Day 23

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” – Colossians 4:2

O Lord, there is much for me to be thankful for. Things happen around me that are nothing short of a miracle from You, yet I often forget to acknowledge Your mighty hand in it. Keep me alert to those things, so I do not fail to secure a blessing or to share it with others.

  • Day 24

    Day 24

“He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.” – Luke 18:3

My heart is feeling a heavy burden, Father, because of the state of our nation. It is easy to take my eyes off You and Your Kingdom and focus on the anxieties around me. I know I need to pray and not lose my confidence in You. Help me keep my focus where it belongs today.

  • Day 25

    Day 25

“The Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings to deep for words.” – Romans 8:26

Holy Spirit, You honor me by interceding for me with the Father. I certainly don’t always know what to say or exactly how to say it, but You do.  Through Your standing in the gap for me, I have confidence that the Father understands the very depths of my soul struggles, and loves me through them.

  • Day 26

    Day 26

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” – John 15:7

Create in my heart, O Lord, an urgency to spend more time in Your Word. Teach me what it is to truly abide in You, to make You central in my thoughts, and to have my works glorify only You. I desire only Your will for me in my life.

  • Day 27

    Day 27

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -Acts 2:21

Jesus, I love you so much. Each time I consider the sacrifice You made on Calvary’s cross to redeem me, I am filled with awe at Your love. Help me to share that love and message with others, that they also might call upon You and find salvation.

  • Day 28

    Day 28

“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” – Matthew 26:41

Father, sometimes in my prayer life it seems that You are far away from me. Yet at those times, I remember that it is I who have moved and not You. Remind me that I am a beloved child of yours, and keep me from the wiles of the tempter, that I may be strong in You.

  • Day 29

    Day 29

“He regards the prayers of the destitute and does not despise their prayer.” – Psalm 102:17

Oh, God, I may not be destitute in my finances as some are, but I confess that I am sometimes very destitute in my spirit. Thank you that wherever I am in my life, You hear my prayer and You forgive me of my sins, and because of Jesus in my life, I am rich.

  • Day 30

    Day 30

“Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you; pray for those who mistreat you.” – Luke 6:27-28

Dear Father, I have heard what You say in Your Word, and I want to follow You. Help me understand that those who are my enemies, who hate me, who curse me, who mistreat me, often don’t know you. Let my life and my responses be a testament of Your love for them, through the workings of Your Holy Spirit in me.

  • Day 31

    Day 31

“In my distress, I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help.” – Psalm 18:6

You are a good, good God, and I love You. The things around me distress me so. The way our national leaders behave sometimes, the divisions amongst Americans, even among Christians.  Give rest to my anguished soul today, I pray.

  • Day 32

    Day 32

“Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17

Almighty Lord, this verse is such a challenge to me. I don’t always feel like rejoicing. I fail at being in continual communication with you. And I certainly am not always thankful. Encourage me to remember that this is Your will for me in Christ Jesus. I desire to do better.

  • Day 33

    Day 33

“You will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” – Jeremiah 29:12

Father, God. How often that still small voice You have planted within me calls me to pray, and I don’t hear it. Forgive me for those times. Thank you that You never fail to listen and that Your presence is always with me.

  • Day 34

    Day 34

“Pray for each other…the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16

Lord, I don’t always understand how my prayers work together with Your sovereignty. Give me the confidence to trust You even when my understanding is small. Urge me through Your Holy Spirit to pray for those around me.

  • Day 35

    Day 35

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Philippians 4:6

Most Merciful Father, Thank You for the blessed promises in Your Word—especially the promise that I do not need to have any anxious thoughts today. Help me keep my mind focused on You, and to rest in Your Grace.

  • Day 36

    Day 36

Jesus said, ‘My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.’  John 7:15

Father, You are a faithful God.  You give us what we need just at the right time that we need it. You are our shield and defender, our protector, and we run to You for our shelter. Keep us safe from evil. We bless Your Mighty Name.

  • Day 37

    Day 37

“He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.” – Daniel 6:10

Dear Lord, help me to remember, as Daniel did, that when times seem extra stressful and I don’t have any answers, that I need only to turn to You for my rescue and comfort, and even if I don’t receive full understanding, to remember that You are in control of all things.

  • Day 38

    Day 38

“One of those days, Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.” – Luke 6:12

Dear Jesus, I feel somewhat ashamed that I don’t spend enough time with You in prayer, and ask that You forgive me by Your mercy. Let me find those quiet times, perhaps even peaceful settings, when I can shut out the world and focus only on You. Bless my efforts, and guide me with Your Spirit.

  • Day 39

    Day 39

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18

Almighty and Sovereign God, I thank and praise You for giving us Your very presence. We ask today for the president and his family to know You and Your Truth, to turn to You in times of need and distress, and to find comfort in knowing You are very near.

  • Day 40

    Day 40

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:2

Fill me with the joy of knowing You today, O Almighty God. I confess that I am not always patient in affliction, nor am I patient with things that I hear in the news or on social media. Sometimes my concerns get in the way of my prayers. Help me remember to come to you first, and to be faithful to meet with you in prayer.

  • Day 41

    Day 41

“Abraham said, ‘Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty may be found there?’”  Genesis 18:31

Lord God, we thank You for hearing our pleas for more righteousness in the halls of government. We ask You to bless those all those who claim a right relationship with You to let them know You are especially close to them today.

  • Day 42

    Day 42

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44

Oh, dear Jesus, this is a hard charge sometimes. As Americans, we sometimes feel the world is against You and Your people; but the persecution felt by so many others of your children around the Earth seems unfathomable to us. Be with them in their hours of distress. Give them an abundance of Your strength.

  • Day 43

    Day 43

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. – Ephesians 6:18

Holy Spirit, I call upon You today to help me with my prayers. I’m not always sure how I should approach the Father, or what I should seek. But, according to Ephesians today, I ask that You look upon Your people with favor and grace.

  • Day 44

    Day 44

Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in. – Revelation 3:20

Oh, Jesus. It is such a blessing to know that You desire to spend time with me as much as I do with You. Help me hear Your knocking, and to be ever ready to open myself up to You for that sweet fellowship. Thank You for loving me so much!

  • Day 45

    Day 45

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. – 1 Chronicles 16:11

It is Your face, O God, that I seek today. I desire to know You more and to find the strength to endure in troubled times through Your provision. Show Yourself to members of Congress who seek after You today

  • Day 46

    Day 46

I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven. – Matthew 18:19

God, You have given us so many promises and we want to be so careful to not take any of them for granted. But today, Lord, we ask together with many others, that you would bring a spiritual revival to America, drawing us gently back to You as our Sovereign Lord.

  • Day 47

    Day 47

This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. – 1 John 5:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your ears are always attentive to our prayers. Give us the wisdom to know Your will in the things we ask of You, and to expect only the answers that You deign to give.

  • Day 48

    Day 48

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Father, Your Word plainly tells me that, before anything else, I need to come to You praying and interceding for those who are in authority over us. Our nation’s leaders need help from You today—the kind only You can provide. Help me remember to pray for them each day.

  • Day 49

    Day 49

“I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.” – Psalm 9:1

With my whole heart, Lord, I praise You for the wonderful ways You have dealt with me in my life. Help me to never hesitate to share Your bountiful love with others, so that they might know You also.

  • Day 50

    Day 50

Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. – Isaiah 59:2

Father in Heaven, it is my desire during these days of preparation to keep clean accounts with You, to keep my sins confessed and my forgiveness before You. Do not hide Your face from me, but hear me according to your grace and mercies, and I will praise You.
