National Day of Prayer

Join us on our journey to the National Day of Prayer: May 7, 2020. Take each day to the Lord in prayer with the specific focus on healing our nation.

  • Day 30

    Day 30

“Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you; pray for those who mistreat you.” – Luke 6:27-28

Dear Father, I have heard what You say in Your Word, and I want to follow You. Help me understand that those who are my enemies, who hate me, who curse me, who mistreat me, often don’t know you. Let my life and my responses be a testament of Your love for them, through the workings of Your Holy Spirit in me.

  • Day 31

    Day 31

“In my distress, I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help.” – Psalm 18:6

You are a good, good God, and I love You. The things around me distress me so. The way our national leaders behave sometimes, the divisions amongst Americans, even among Christians.  Give rest to my anguished soul today, I pray.

  • Day 32

    Day 32

“Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17

Almighty Lord, this verse is such a challenge to me. I don’t always feel like rejoicing. I fail at being in continual communication with you. And I certainly am not always thankful. Encourage me to remember that this is Your will for me in Christ Jesus. I desire to do better.

  • Day 33

    Day 33

“You will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” – Jeremiah 29:12

Father, God. How often that still small voice You have planted within me calls me to pray, and I don’t hear it. Forgive me for those times. Thank you that You never fail to listen and that Your presence is always with me.

  • Day 34

    Day 34

“Pray for each other…the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16

Lord, I don’t always understand how my prayers work together with Your sovereignty. Give me the confidence to trust You even when my understanding is small. Urge me through Your Holy Spirit to pray for those around me.

  • Day 35

    Day 35

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”  Philippians 4:6

Most Merciful Father, Thank You for the blessed promises in Your Word—especially the promise that I do not need to have any anxious thoughts today. Help me keep my mind focused on You, and to rest in Your Grace.

  • Day 36

    Day 36

Jesus said, ‘My prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but that you protect them from the evil one.’  John 7:15

Father, You are a faithful God.  You give us what we need just at the right time that we need it. You are our shield and defender, our protector, and we run to You for our shelter. Keep us safe from evil. We bless Your Mighty Name.

  • Day 37

    Day 37

“He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.” – Daniel 6:10

Dear Lord, help me to remember, as Daniel did, that when times seem extra stressful and I don’t have any answers, that I need only to turn to You for my rescue and comfort, and even if I don’t receive full understanding, to remember that You are in control of all things.

  • Day 38

    Day 38

“One of those days, Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.” – Luke 6:12

Dear Jesus, I feel somewhat ashamed that I don’t spend enough time with You in prayer, and ask that You forgive me by Your mercy. Let me find those quiet times, perhaps even peaceful settings, when I can shut out the world and focus only on You. Bless my efforts, and guide me with Your Spirit.

  • Day 39

    Day 39

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18

Almighty and Sovereign God, I thank and praise You for giving us Your very presence. We ask today for the president and his family to know You and Your Truth, to turn to You in times of need and distress, and to find comfort in knowing You are very near.

  • Day 40

    Day 40

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:2

Fill me with the joy of knowing You today, O Almighty God. I confess that I am not always patient in affliction, nor am I patient with things that I hear in the news or on social media. Sometimes my concerns get in the way of my prayers. Help me remember to come to you first, and to be faithful to meet with you in prayer.

  • Day 41

    Day 41

“Abraham said, ‘Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty may be found there?’”  Genesis 18:31

Lord God, we thank You for hearing our pleas for more righteousness in the halls of government. We ask You to bless those all those who claim a right relationship with You to let them know You are especially close to them today.

  • Day 42

    Day 42

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44

Oh, dear Jesus, this is a hard charge sometimes. As Americans, we sometimes feel the world is against You and Your people; but the persecution felt by so many others of your children around the Earth seems unfathomable to us. Be with them in their hours of distress. Give them an abundance of Your strength.

  • Day 43

    Day 43

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. – Ephesians 6:18

Holy Spirit, I call upon You today to help me with my prayers. I’m not always sure how I should approach the Father, or what I should seek. But, according to Ephesians today, I ask that You look upon Your people with favor and grace.

  • Day 44

    Day 44

Here I am. I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in. – Revelation 3:20

Oh, Jesus. It is such a blessing to know that You desire to spend time with me as much as I do with You. Help me hear Your knocking, and to be ever ready to open myself up to You for that sweet fellowship. Thank You for loving me so much!

  • Day 45

    Day 45

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. – 1 Chronicles 16:11

It is Your face, O God, that I seek today. I desire to know You more and to find the strength to endure in troubled times through Your provision. Show Yourself to members of Congress who seek after You today

  • Day 46

    Day 46

I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven. – Matthew 18:19

God, You have given us so many promises and we want to be so careful to not take any of them for granted. But today, Lord, we ask together with many others, that you would bring a spiritual revival to America, drawing us gently back to You as our Sovereign Lord.

  • Day 47

    Day 47

This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. – 1 John 5:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your ears are always attentive to our prayers. Give us the wisdom to know Your will in the things we ask of You, and to expect only the answers that You deign to give.

  • Day 48

    Day 48

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Father, Your Word plainly tells me that, before anything else, I need to come to You praying and interceding for those who are in authority over us. Our nation’s leaders need help from You today—the kind only You can provide. Help me remember to pray for them each day.

  • Day 49

    Day 49

“I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.” – Psalm 9:1

With my whole heart, Lord, I praise You for the wonderful ways You have dealt with me in my life. Help me to never hesitate to share Your bountiful love with others, so that they might know You also.

  • Day 50

    Day 50

Your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. – Isaiah 59:2

Father in Heaven, it is my desire during these days of preparation to keep clean accounts with You, to keep my sins confessed and my forgiveness before You. Do not hide Your face from me, but hear me according to your grace and mercies, and I will praise You.
