Thousands of Americans participated online along with thousands more at local and regional events at state capitols and in churches as part of one of the largest collective prayer events in U.S. history. Each year, it is such a blessing to see God’s people turn their hearts to God and pray together.

We each have our own personal relationship with God through prayer, but God rejoices when we join our voices with each other in praise and prayer. After such a blessed day full of prayer, we need to carry forward with the momentum of prayer for our country and leaders. We encourage you to continue reaching out to friends and family to talk to them about this important need. Share with them the resources and tools that we provide to help get them started.

Prayer is always the most important thing that we can be doing in our lives. Thank you for praying with us for the president and leadership of the United States of America to accomplish the will of God in our country.

Prayer has always been at the center of American life, because America is a nation of believers.

President Donald J. Trump - National Day of Prayer, May 4, 2018

Renewed Hope Through Prayer
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. – 1 Timothy 1:1-2

You may wonder if a peaceful and quiet, godly, and dignified life is possible in our world. Yet Paul assures Timothy that this is true. During the throes of the Korean War, Billy Graham said, “What a thrilling, glorious thing it would be to see the leaders of our country today kneeling before Almighty God in prayer. What a thrill would sweep this country. What renewed hope and courage would grip the Americans at our hour of peril.” As you pray for the nation’s leaders, this same courage and hope can come to you. Many headlines focus on negativity or disasters, which can so easily fill us with fear and anxiety, but we must cast it all upon Him in prayer (1 Peter 5:6-7). In doing so, you will find a peaceful and quiet life.

All of us, in our churches, in our homes, and in our hearts, may beseech God to grant us wisdom to know the course which we should follow, and strength and patience to pursue that course steadfastly.

President Harry S. Truman - National Day of Prayer, June 17, 1952

God, our Father, we love You and we praise You. We give You honor as Lord over all, from border to border and coast to coast across the United States of America.

We confess that too often we take the cares of the world upon ourselves in anxiety and worry, when You have so clearly said that we are to cast those burdens upon You.

We pray that truth and righteousness reign again in America, beginning with the president and leaders of our government.

We pray for protection and guidance for President Trump and members of his administration. For congressional members and upon all those who sit as leaders and judges over us.

Open their hearts that they may see Your will be accomplished. We also pray for their health and families and loved ones.

Thank you for watching over us and protecting our country. May Your grace and mercy overflow and may Your name be glorified in all that we say and do.

Prayer is today as powerful a force in our Nation as it has ever been. We as a Nation should never forget this source of strength. And while recognizing that the freedom to choose a Godly path is the essence of liberty, as a Nation we cannot but hope that more of our citizens would, through prayer, come into a closer relationship with their Maker.
