FBI Announces Charlie Kirk’s Assassin in Custody

Utah governor participates in news conference, saying, “We got him.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Friday that the alleged shooter who assassinated Charlie Kirk on September 10 at Utah Valley University has been identified and taken into custody. The FBI conducted a manhunt and analysed surveillance footage before receiving a tip on the gunman’s identity.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who joined FBI Director Kash Patel for a press conference, said, “A family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident.”

The gunman’s roommate also shared messages on Discord that showed the coordination of Robinson with someone who provided the rifle. Governor Cox shared the political messages that were engraved on bullet casings.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives reported that law enforcement recovered “an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the campus” after the shooting.

Governor Cox pointed out that no rioting, looting, or violence has occurred in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s death. He said, “There were vigils and prayers. And people coming together to share the humanity. And that, ladies and gentlemen, I believe is the answer to this.”

“Charlie said, ‘When people stop talking, that’s when you get violence.’ He said, ‘The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive, welcome without judgment, love without condition, forgive without limit,’” Governor Cox read. “[Kirk] said, ‘Always forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much.'”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Director Patel and FBI officials as they continue the investigation into the assassination.
  • For Governor Cox and Utah law enforcement as they collaborate with federal officers.
  • For God’s comfort for Charlie Kirk’s family, friends, and colleagues as they mourn his loss.
  • For the assassin’s father who turned his son in to law enforcement and for the assassin to find salvation in Christ.
