Former President Joe Biden recently underwent Mohs surgery to test for the resurgence of skin cancer. The treatment was deemed necessary after President Biden announced a prostate cancer diagnosis in May.
In 2023, President Biden had areas of his skin that tested positive for basal cell carcinoma, and cancers often have comorbidities with other forms of cancer. The former president’s basal cell carcinoma was treated by removing the slow-growing skin tissue, but the prostate cancer is more aggressive and has metastasized to his bones.
President Biden projected optimism after announcing the diagnosis, saying he was prescribed pills to treat the cancer. He said, “The expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this. It’s not in any organ, it’s in – my bones are strong, it hadn’t penetrated. So, I’m feeling good.”
