President Donald Trump has invited Indiana state legislators to the White House today. The president will discuss the possibility of a mid-decade redrawing of the state’s congressional districts ahead of next year’s midterm elections, which is legal in that state.

The debate regarding gerrymandered congressional districts has increased since the state of Texas advanced its redrawn map this month.
The effort began after the Department of Justice sent a letter stating it would “seek legal action against the state” over the “unconstitutional racial gerrymanders” of the previous map.
Some state legislators, who fled the special session called by Texas Governor Abbott so there would be no quorum, returned to Texas after arrest warrants were issued and their direct deposits for legislative income were suspended. The newly drawn maps have been approved, which gives the current majority five more seats.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to be led by the Lord as he discusses the potential redistricting of Indiana.
- For wisdom for state legislators as they consider their congressional district maps and the representation of their residents in Congress.
- For federal and state officials to follow the U.S. Constitution and their states’ constitutions regarding the allotment of districts and population apportionment of regions.
