“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.‘”- John 7:38
The author of Water: The Essence of Life, Mark Niemeyer, states that the simple three-molecule construction of H2O is the “most extraordinary life-sustaining molecule known to mankind.” Its substance can take the form of a solid, liquid, or gas, as ice, water, and steam. respectively. It has tremendous flexibility—it can flow, creep, drip, or crash. Scientists claim that all the water that has ever existed on Earth is still here, recycling itself through stages of evaporation, condensation, and collection.
And you require it to live.
When Jesus met the woman of Samaria at a water well in John 4, he told her about something far greater than water that was necessary for life. He was speaking of the very power of God that would quench her spiritual thirst. Later, when Jesus was in Jerusalem at the Feast of Tabernacles (in John 7), He cried out to anyone who would listen, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” Then He spoke of the Holy Spirit being Living Water that would indwell those who would believe (v. 39).
The Holy Spirit provides you with a fountain of living spiritual water. Choose to conform to His promptings and let it flow, rather than being frozen or vaporous. God wants you to be the most refreshing water possible to everyone you meet.
The next time you take a refreshing drink of H2O, consider your spiritual life. Pray that leaders across the country who make decisions on natural resources, including water, would seek the Lord for personal and national guidance, and thank Him for that life-giving essence.

32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him. 33 Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. 34 You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.” 35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What does he mean by saying, ‘You will seek me and you will not find me,’ and, ‘Where I am you cannot come’?”
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
40 When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This really is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” 43 So there was a division among the people over him. 44 Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.
