Realigned funds to support infrastructure improvements across veteran health care facilities nationwide.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will reallocate an additional $800 million this fiscal year to improve infrastructure at VA medical facilities as part of the Veterans Health Administration’s Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) program. The funding will support projects that address aging systems and improve safety and efficiency across health centers. Planned upgrades include repairs to HVAC systems, elevators, fire alarms, medical equipment sites, and utility infrastructure, as well as clinical space renovations and support for electronic health record modernization.
“This is another step forward in our efforts to make VA work better for the Veterans, families, caregivers and survivors we are charged with serving,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “Improved facilities, equipment and infrastructure help improve care for Veterans, and these additional funds will enable VA to achieve that goal.”
The funding increase comes from cost savings generated through internal reform initiatives and raises the total NRM budget for fiscal year 2025 to $2.8 billion—nearly $500 million more than in 2024.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the effective and timely use of these funds and that repairs and upgrades made to VA facilities would lead to safer and more efficient care for veterans across the nation.
- For VA Secretary Collins and all those overseeing these infrastructure projects to act with diligence and focus as they manage resources to serve veterans and their families well.
- For the veterans who rely on these health services to experience improved support and care through these efforts to upgrade and maintain the facilities that serve them.
