The leadership ended immigration enforcement obstruction after receiving
Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced earlier this week that Louisville, Kentucky, is ending its sanctuary city policies. The city’s mayor shifted its policy on federal immigration detainers after the Justice Department warned of legal action and potential freezes of federal funding.
“In a major victory for the Department of Justice, the city of Louisville is dropping its sanctuary city policies as a result of a strong written warning from my office,” Attorney General Bondi stated.
She continued, “This should set an example to other cities. Instead of forcing us to sue you — which we will, without hesitation — follow the law, get rid of sanctuary policies, and work with us to fix the illegal immigration crisis.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) provides forms to jails informing local officials of possible illegal aliens in their custody that the federal agency wishes to detain. Sanctuary cities have not cooperated with such notices. Louisville had been in the habit of releasing suspects from custody rather than complying with the federal request to hold such suspects for 48 hours.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Attorney General Bondi as she oversees the upholding of federal immigration laws by the Justice Department.
- For state governors and city mayors to comply with federal law enforcement to remove violent criminal migrants from the U.S.
- For DHS Secretary Noem and White House Border Czar Homan as they encourage self-deportation in the enforcement of federal laws.
