USDA Secretary Says “No Amnesty” for Immigrant Farm Workers

She says machines and Medicaid enrollees could replace immigrants as deportations continue.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said that there would be “no amnesty” for immigrants working on American farms, promising to continue immigration enforcement within this economic sector. President Donald Trump had indicated there was a possibility that farms would not be prioritized in deportation efforts.

American produce farms have primarily been staffed by immigrant workers, either legally or illegally hired by farm owners to harvest the produce on their lands. President Trump’s second administration has significantly scaled back the H2-B visa immigration program that allowed this practice as part of the commitment to removing illegal aliens from American soil.

The U.S. farm sector has warned the president’s administration that eliminating this pool of workers would impact America’s food supply. Secretary Rollins stated that machinery and Medicaid enrollees are expected address this looming shortage.

“Ultimately, the answer on this is automation, also some reform within the current governing structure. And then also, when you think about, there are 34 million able-bodied adults in our Medicaid program. There are plenty of workers in America,” she said at a press conference outside the USDA headquarters.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rollins to seek God’s wisdom as she oversees the reduction in illegal migrant labor in the farm production.
  • For President Trump and administration officials to be discerning as they assess the impact of deportations on various sectors.
