Secretary of State Marco Rubio is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to participate in the ASEAN-United States Post-Ministerial Conference, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Secretary Rubio will also meet with Malaysian senior government officials during his trip.

The State Department announced, “In his first trip to Asia as Secretary of State, Secretary Rubio is focused on reaffirming the United States’ commitment to advancing a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region.“  

The department continue, “During this trip, the Secretary will highlight the strength of our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN in delivering results for the American people and the people of Southeast Asia, as well as our commitment to building on our Comprehensive Partnership with Malaysia.“

  • For wisdom for Secretary Rubio as he engages Asian and Malaysian leaders at the meetings and conferences.
  • For President Trump and members of his Cabinet as they implement the administration’s goals under the recently passed legislation.
  • For senators in committees considering nominees for confirmation, intelligence matters, and the armed forces authorization for the coming fiscal year.
