HUD Secretary Announces Intent to Move Agency to NSF Building

Federal employee unions have objected to the relocation.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently announced that it will be moving its headquarters, and thousands of employees, from its current building in Washington, D.C., to the headquarters of the National Science Foundation (NSF), which is located in Alexandria, Virginia. HUD Secretary Scott Turner made the announcement as part of the fulfillment of President Trump’s intention to reduce the federal real estate footprint in the District of Columbia.

“It is time to turn the page on the Weaver Building and relocate to a new headquarters that prioritizes the well-being of HUD employees and properly reflects the passion and excellence of our team,” said Secretary Turner.

Federal worker unions are opposing the decision for its unclear timeline and its forced displacement of 1,800 NSF employees, which will be moved from their previous headquarters to an undetermined location.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Turner as he prepares to move the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • For federal employees as they respond to the plan to relocate the agency.
