President Donald Trump has returned to Washington from the NATO Summit at the Hague in the Netherlands. He continues to monitor the truce between Israel and Iran. The president announced that the U.S. would be meeting with Iran in the coming week.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota is overseeing the progress on bringing the president’s “Big Beautiful Bill” to the floor for a vote. He expressed optimism that voting could begin Friday.
House Speaker Mike Johnson told representatives to maintain a flexible schedule as he is prepared to bring the legislation to the floor of the lower chamber quickly once it passes the Senate.
“If the Senate does its work on the timeline we expect, we will do our work as well,” Speaker Johnson said. “And I think everybody’s ready for that.”
