FTC Warns Ticket Site Ahead of NFL Schedule Release

The agency’s letter outlined penalties for noncompliance to regulation requiring total ticket pricing.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a warning letter to StubHub, the country’s largest ticket resale platform, alleging that the company failed to accurately display total ticket prices by omitting required fees such as service and fulfillment charges. The warning came ahead of the release of the 2025 NFL season schedule, when ticket activity was expected to surge.

The letter cited potential violations of the FTC’s new Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees, which took effect May 12 and mandates clear disclosure of the full price of live-event tickets, excluding only taxes and optional add-ons.

“Companies have had sufficient time to prepare for these changes and update their advertising to ensure the total price of each product or service is appropriately disclosed,” said Director Chris Mufarrige of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “As this letter shows, the Commission will not allow companies to circumvent the rule to gain a competitive advantage.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Director Mufarrige to be prudent as he heads the FTC’s Consumer Protection Bureau.
  • For Chair Andrew Ferguson to be led by the Lord as he oversees the FTC.
  • For companies and corporations to comply with federal regulations and provide total costs to the public.
