Opportunity Knocking

Change brings opportunities.

Galatians 6:10 – So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

There can be no doubt but that things are changing. The coronavirus has resulted in lockdowns and the lockdowns have resulted in many businesses closing for good. A recent Wall Street Journal article said that as many as one-third of businesses may never open again.

Some among the political class see these changes as times of opportunity, while others continue to point fingers and assess blame. Many politicians are scrambling to be the authors of new responses to the nation’s economic times and its health crisis.

Former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann said, “Change is really what life is about right now, and I’ve decided not to really use the word change as much as I used the word opportunity. … To sit there and get all upset about it really isn’t gonna serve any purpose whatsoever, … let’s see what happens..”

Are you like that great NFL quarterback, looking for the opportunities that change brings? Today’s verse says to use the opportunity to do good.   An article in CBN News last September said some 15 million—that’s 15,000,000—Christians are not registered to vote, while as many as 40 million do vote. One good thing you can do today is connect with friends and family, ask them to register if they haven’t, then ask them to study up on the candidates and their positions, and to vote on November 3.  It’s time to jump on this opportunity! It could make the difference.

Pray With Us

Loving Heavenly Father, thank You that I am a citizen of this remarkable nation of America. Thank You that this country still gives me the opportunity to have my voice heard through my vote. Help me to lovingly persuade others who may not be registered to due their duty to this country that gives them so many opportunities. Let me be an encourager during this election season, for I pray it in Jesus’ Name,

Amen.
