President Donald Trump is in Qatar today, meeting with heads of state to discuss trade and regional concerns. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will head from Qatar to Turkey today for the NATO Informal Foreign Ministers Meeting.
Peace talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky are set to take place in Turkey on Thursday. President Zelensky has requested that President Trump join the discussion.
President Trump’s announcement that the Department of Defense would accept the gift of a 747 luxury jet from Qatar, to be temporarily repurposed as Air Force One, has brought up legal and ethical questions.
“Any donation to this government is always done in full compliance with the law, and we commit ourselves to the utmost transparency, and we will continue to do that,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded. She added that President Trump “only works with the interests of the American public in mind.”
The president ordered replacements for the current aging Air Force One planes during his first term which were supposed to be completed last year, but Boeing is behind schedule and over budget in producing them.
