Pass the Test

James 1:2 For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

You really don’t know how strong your faith is until it is tested. Over 100,000 people in the United States have lost their lives to the coronavirus in the past four months. If this disease has touched your life, you know the anguish that it has brought. Even if you’ve been kept free of it, you cannot help but grieve for the changes wrought upon Americans, their lives, and livelihoods, as a result of this international pandemic. There is nothing enjoyable about challenging times.

Churches are beginning to reopen, but with restrictions. A new and unrecognizable normal is coming to Americans, and to Christians. What is God doing? That’s a question many are asking. Perhaps time will give an answer. Just know that He is at work—even if you don’t see it!  And that “knowing” requires faith…faith that is being tested, faith that is being put through the fire of uncertainty, faith that may have you hanging by a thread.

A wise pastor once said, “If you are hanging on by a thread, make sure it is a thread from the bottom of the garment of Jesus.”

Hold fast. Pass the test. Be patient. Watch and wait…you could see greater things than you’ve ever known from the Hand of Almighty God.

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, Mighty God, I want to take to heart today more of what Your Word says in the first chapter of James. You have blessed my life with many good things; help me keep note of them. Protect my faith that I might remain steadfast in You. I do lack wisdom, Lord, and You’ve promised to give it out generously. Give me the portion that I need for today. Help me recognize the truth and keep my reactions appropriate. Thank You, Father, for Who You Are.

Amen.
