FAA Safety System Outage Grounds All Flights

The agency lifted the ground stop that has delayed flights across the nation.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop of U.S. flights after an outage occurred to its Notice to Air Missions system Wednesday morning. An estimated 400 flights were impacted before the system came back online.

The FAA stated later Wednesday morning, “While some functions are beginning to come back online, National Airspace System operations remain limited. We continue to look into the cause of the initial problem.“

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated, “FAA has determined that the safety system affected by the overnight outage is fully restored, and the nationwide ground stop will be lifted effective immediately. I have directed an after-action process to determine root causes and recommend next steps.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Acting Administration Billy Nolen as he oversees FAA operations.
  • For Secretary Buttigieg to have discernment as he responds to the latest air travel incident.
  • For the thousands of travelers who are again being displaced by flight cancelations.
