February 15th – Wednesday

If you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. – Deuteronomy 28:1

An expository take on today’s verse might say, “If you faithfully (in a loyal manner) obey (submit to the authority of) the voice of the Lord your God, being careful (prudent) to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high (great in rank, status, or importance) above all the nations of the earth.“ At its simplest, this means that, by obeying His Word, you will be blessed. While followers of Jesus are not perfect, the gift of forgiveness and eternal life through Christ gives believers hope. When you come to Him, He takes your sin and offers you His righteousness! Thus, you have the amazing opportunity to learn from Him how to live the new life He gives you. Despite the troubles in this world and nation, ask the Holy Spirit to help you live like Jesus, and pray diligently for those in public office.

As the Lord leads, pray with us…

  • For prudence and clarity for the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court as they hear and decide cases.
  • For judges throughout the federal judicial system to seek God’s discernment as they issue rulings.
