DOT Updates National Road Safety Strategy

U.S. pedestrian traffic fatalities at a 16-year high.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) recently updated the National Roadway Safety Strategy. Since the previous update in January, multiple road safety grant programs have been created in the wake of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The department has modified its strategy to better accommodate those financial changes. New research on pedestrian safety has also emerged, marking a 16-year high in U.S. traffic fatalities.

“At a time when it is safer to fly across the country than it is to walk across town, we must all act to address the crisis on our nation’s roadways,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “With new resources from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we are taking critical steps to save lives on our roadways.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the secretary and other Transportation Department officials as they endeavor to reduce pedestrian fatalities.
  • For Acting Administrator Ann Carlson as she oversees the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
  • For wisdom for Chair Jennifer Homendy and other members of the National Transportation Safety Board.
