VA Extends Pandemic Hardship Relief

The pandemic program will now expire at the end of 2022.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has extended its hardship suspension for benefit debts to December 31. Originally scheduled to expire on September 30, the benefits debts include education benefits, disability compensation, and non-service-connected pensions. The VA is also planning to help veterans manage their debts by implementing a simpler income threshold to qualify for relief, no longer having medical debt affect credit scores, making debt-relief applications available online, and more.

“Helping Veterans manage, pay off, and — in some cases — eliminate their debt is one of our top priorities,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough. “Extending this hardship suspension is a key part of that critical effort, and it will help ease the burden for Veterans who are living with debt.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For VA officials as they consider the situations of the veterans under their care.
  • For Secretary McDonough to seek the Lord’s direction as he heads the VA.
  • For veterans who are experiencing financial, health, and other hardships.
