DOE Requests Input on Clean Energy Research Funds

$675 million was allocated through Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The Department of Energy published a Request for Information last week, asking for public input on the $675 million allocated for domestic critical materials research. President Biden’s administration has been prioritizing research into the domestic production of clean energy technologies, and rare-earth elements are critical components for all clean energy production. The funding for this research was approved through the Energy Act of 2020.

“We can follow through on President Biden’s clean energy commitments and make our nation more secure by increasing our ability to source, process, and manufacture critical materials right here at home,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. The period for public comment is open now through September 9.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Granholm as information is gathered regarding critical minerals.
  • For energy officials as they prepare to invest in mineral research.
  • For the public and experts who have comments and input to provide on domestic critical minerals.
