President and First Lady Visit Post-Flood Kentucky

The town flooded after previous tornado devastation.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited Mayfield, Kentucky Monday, meeting with residents after the town experienced the worst flooding in Kentucky’s history. Last month, severe thunderstorms dropped 8 to 10-½ inches of rain within 48 hours, severely damaging houses and killing 37 people. The National Weather Service has warned that more severe thunderstorms are likely on the way.

Mayfield was still in the process of recovering from a deadly tornado that tore through the town in December, making the additional flood damage even more devastating. President Biden vowed that the federal government will ensure the community receives a full rebuild from both the tornado and the flood. “We have the capacity to do this — it’s not like it’s beyond our control,” President Biden said. “We’re staying until everybody’s back to where they were.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president as he and his advisors assess emergency situations around the nation.
  • For Governor Beshear as he oversees recovery efforts in Kentucky.
  • For Senator Paul as he endeavors to release unused COVID funds for natural disaster recovery.
