Truths Revealed

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15

There are some who have said that it doesn’t matter what you believe about God as long as you are sincere. However, people can be sincerely wrong and bring much hurt or damage upon themselves and others. Human theories apart from Scripture lead to destruction. Pastor John MacArthur points out, “In this world there is relentless conflict between the truth of God and the lies of Satan.” The devil seeks to pervert the words of God. Your recourse is to be committed to the study of Scripture so you will not be led astray.

King David’s words in Psalm 119 say it best: “Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart… Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments” (vv. 1-2, 5-6). Paul encouraged Timothy to live and teach with the approval of God, not men, as his goal.

David prayed, “Direct my steps by Your word” (Psalm 119:133 NKJV). Bible teacher H.A. Ironside wrote that “we are called to contend for the faith, not be contentious.” He sought to emphasize the truths of God’s Word, and to live in the power of those truths revealed to him.

Handling Scripture correctly will give you the courage to apply its truths to the circumstances in your life in the world today. Pray that citizens of this nation and those in authority would be attentive to God’s Word. May God be glorified, the lost saved, and believers encouraged.

14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.

20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
