DOI Funds 40 Fish Passage Projects

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocates $38 million for 2022.

The Department of the Interior announced that 40 fish passage projects will receive $38 million for the fiscal year 2022. This is the first investment of $200 million that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has allocated to fish passage projects for the next five years. Fish passages help aquatic wildlife continue to naturally travel past man-made dams, and are essential for maintaining aquatic diversity while preventing floods from impacting local communities.

“Across the country, millions of barriers block fish migration and put communities at higher risk of flooding,” said Secretary Deb Haaland. “President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in our nation’s rivers, streams and communities and help restore habitat connectivity for aquatic species around the country.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For officials in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife agency as they implement passage projects.
  • For Secretary Haaland to seek God’s wisdom as she heads the Interior Department.
