90-Day Review of Afghanistan Withdrawal Begins

State and Defense Departments start an extensive investigation.

The U.S. State Department and Department of Defense have begun a review that will analyze the U.S. military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. Looking extensively at the time between January 2020 and August 2021, the review will “seek to assess the lessons learned from our engagement in Afghanistan and provide recommendations going forward,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said

Though the review will be extensive, neither department expects much of it will be available to the public upon its completion. “We anticipate the final report will be classified — so as to be as detailed as possible in its findings,” a State Department spokesperson said. “But, as with all endeavors, we will be as transparent as possible.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Blinken as he studies the impact on global relations in this report.
  • For Secretary Austin as he looks at how military strategies could be improved in the future.
  • That this 90-day review would be conducted with knowledge and integrity.
