Power Source

To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might.  – Daniel 2:23

Every day you rely on your refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, telephone, television, computer, lamps, an adjustable bed, and maybe even an electric blanket. Each appliance or convenience has the same thing in common: they are useless if not connected to their power source.

It is the same for you. You must stay connected to God. Your strength flows from Him only when you are connected to Him.  If you become unplugged, you may have enough stored up in a “spiritual battery” for a short period of time, but you will soon run out of strength. Daniel knew the Source of his strength, wisdom, and power. King David relied on it. Paul understood it. Jesus taught, in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

There is great importance in acknowledging God as your power source. Everything, every blessing in your life, your wisdom, power, knowledge, all come from God. Without Him, you cannot achieve anything meaningful in your life. Pour out your offerings of thanksgiving to Him today. Give Him the glory for everything you enjoy. Pray for leaders in Washington to understand that, apart from the Lord, their works are in vain.

Today’s Verse: Daniel 2:23

To you, O God of my fathers,
    I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king’s matter.

11 “For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. 13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. 16 I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.
