James 1:12 – Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial.

Ray Boltz is a  songwriter and performer whose contemporary Christian music includes stories of faith and inspiration.  The lyrics of one of his songs says that despite questions and circumstances, “In every situation God gave blessed consolation, that my trials come to only make me strong.” The chorus says, “Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus; I’ve learned to trust in God. … I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.”

God knew you ahead of creation, and he knew there would be mountains, valleys, storms, problems, and even pandemics that you would have to face. They came, not all at once by His grace, to build your faith and to reassure you of His promises. Learning to trust Jesus and learning to trust God is a process that increases each time you are forced to deal with something you’d rather not face.   Philippians 4:6-7 asks you to be anxious for nothing, but thankful in everything. Through trusting the Lord, you can be thankful, for you know that He is bringing you through to the other side.

Your strength is in Christ. As you walk with Him and trust Him today, you can say with the psalmist, “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8).

Pray With Us

Almighty God, thank You for music that helps to call to remembrance the promises of Your Word. Thank you for psalms and challenges that help me grow my faith in You. I have to admit that I sometimes fall back into saying, ‘Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.’ Yet, even in those times, O God, You are faithful to hold my hand and not allow me to be shaken. Thank you for strengthening me, and for always, always being there. I love you, Abba Father.

Amen.
