President Pitches Budget Plan to Congress

Plan is $118 billion higher than 2020 appropriations.

On Friday, the president’s administration announced its first budget proposal for the country with a price tag of $1.5 trillion. The document released by the White House is 41 pages long and calls for an increase in spending of $118 billion over 2020’s appropriations. The budget calls for increases in poverty and climate spending with no major adjustments for defense spending.

The budget plan apportions $102.8 billion for education spending, which would be an increase of 40.8% over last year. It also calls for an $8.7 billion increase in funding for the CDC which would go toward public readiness for any future public health crises. Gun violence is also addressed with $2.1 billion going to the Justice Department to reduce mass shootings in the country.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God’s will to be accomplished as the president promotes his proposal.
  • That God would give Congress wisdom as they consider the financial plan for the country.
  • For President Biden to work with Congressional leaders to find bi-partisan solutions.
