Misguided Fear

Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

The physiology of fear has been studied by medical science for a long time and there is no doubt, living in a chronic state of alarm is a major roadblock to wellness. Chronic fear is like a booster rocket for everything negative in your life, it can turn a headache into a migraine and breathing difficulties into asthma. Yet concern is a realistic response when facing a world in crisis with pandemics and social unrest!  Natural fear turns destructive when it becomes misplaced.

God regularly brings His people through circumstances where their faith must be exercised, even stretched. Fear is misdirected when one BELIEVES a promise or warning coming from someone other than God. In the beginning, Eve was deceived by accepting a fear that she would miss out on being “wise like God.” She chose to believe the serpent’s words rather than God’s words. YOU will have that same opportunity today!

Disease and suffering are real, and you may be enduring difficult circumstances right now. But double-check your focus. Are you accepting fear when God is asking you to have faith? Place your natural apprehensions AND your faith in Christ. His power is proven sufficient for all things, even unto death.

Pray for America’s governing officials to make decisions that bring healing rather than fear to the nation. Ask God to bless the United States with people of faith in key positions, forming policy and legislating. Anchor yourself on the promises of God alone. Look for a new day in your life and in this country, one flourishing in faith, no longer in fear.

Today’s Verse: Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher,
