House Passes COVID-19 Aid Bill

President likely to sign the bill on Friday.

In a vote entirely along party lines, the House of Representatives voted to approve a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill that will offer some aid to Americans suffering from the economic effects of COVID-19. The vote was 220-to-211 with members of the minority party in both chambers of Congress unanimously opposed to the bill. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said of the legislation, “Today we have a decision to make of tremendous consequence, a decision that will make a difference for millions of Americans, saving lives and livelihoods.”

The White House stated that the president is expected to sign the bill into law on Friday, with stimulus checks being sent out as soon as possible after that. The bill also includes continued expanded unemployment benefits and funding for vaccine distributions.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That this legislation would benefit Americans in economic trouble.
  • For the Lord to give the president’s administration guidance on how best to help the nation recover from the pandemic.
  • That God would help Congress pass laws for the good of the country.
