Senate Passes Telecom Relief

Small Companies Receive Funding to Replace Huawei Infrastructure

The Senate voted on Thursday to pass a measure blocking U.S. telecom companies from using components built by Chinese company Huawei. The measure also provides $1 billion in financial relief for rural companies to replace equipment that they already purchased from the Chinese tech giant. The measure now is at the White House for the President’s signature.

A joint statement from lawmakers said, “the existence of Huawei’s technology in our networks represents an immense threat to America’s national and economic security.” The reason for this measure is the Federal Communication Commission’s direction in barring all U.S. companies from using government subsidies for equipment from China.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would use the FCC to provide necessary telecom services to all Americans.
  • For the Senate to have wisdom on the best measures to protect Americans from foreign interference.
  • For President Trump to be led by God on the best decision moving forward with China.
